
Gaberkorn Take Two Points as Pioneers Drop Dual Bout at Yale

New Haven, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's fencing team returned to action on Saturday facing in-state rival Yale University for a dual bout with the Bulldogs securing a 21-3 victory on their home turf.
Two of the Pioneers three points on the day came in Epee where Nadia Gaberkorn took the win in her second and third bouts in the discipline playing against a full compliment of NCAA Qualifiers for the No. 9 ranked Bulldogs. After dropping her opening bout, Gaberkorn rebounded for a 5-4 decision against Anya Mehrotra and followed that with a 5-2 victory over Amanda O'Donnell. The only other point on the day came in Sabre with Jessica Murphy earning the decision.
The Pioneers will take the next three weeks to train in anticipation of the New England Championships which are slated for the weekend of February 21-22.
