NEWARK, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team fell 7-0 at NJIT in its regular season finale on Thursday night. The Pioneers finish 6-14 overall.
Both second and third doubles dropped 6-3 and 6-4 as the Highlanders clinched the doubles point, leaving
William Wibmer and
Lefteri Apostolou stranded at 5-5 at first.
Five of the six singles fell in straight sets. Senior
Ayman Khan was the lone Pioneer to garner a set at fourth singles. After dropping the first set, 1-6, Khan came back, 6-4, in the second. However, NJIT's Oscar Callo came out victorious, 6-3, in the final set.
The next time the Pioneers hit the court will be at the Northeast Conference Championships on April 14-16 in West Windsor, N.J.
