Greene Stops 39 in Loss
SHELTON, Conn. — Two games and two career-high days for Sacred Heart goalies. That can happen when you open your season against No. 9 Clarkson.
The Pioneers (0-2), who got 47 saves from Molly Elmore on Friday, saw sophomore Carly Greene turn aside 39 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Golden Knights at the Rinks at Shelton.
Graduate student Delani Mackay re-directed a Kelly Solak shot from the blueline with three minutes left in regulation to cut the Clarkson lead in half. SHU pulled Greene for an extra skater with 1:42 left but could not get the equalizer.
SHU is next in action on Oct. 4 at Shelton against Post.
