NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team couldn't use the momentum from winning the fourth set to propel it to victory at Central Connecticut State on Friday. The Pioneers lost 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-12, 15-13) to the Blue Devils.

Trailing 10-9 in the fifth set, SHU grabbed a 12-10 lead thanks to kills from Reghan Palanchi and Camryn Luginbuhl. Unfortunately, the Blue Devils finished the match on a 5-1 run to take the victory.
The first set was 21-20 in the Pioneers' favor before the visitors closed it out on kills from Kate Anderson and Brooke Jeffrey plus an Emma Smallcomb ace.
Sacred Heart had 10 more kills (65-55), but the Blue Devils had a .242-to-.216 hitting percentage advantage. CCSU also produced 13 blocks to the Pioneers' eight.
Every SHU hitter had at least eight kills, topped by Brooke Jeffrey's season-high 16 winners. Sarah Ciszek produced her fourth double-double – ranking her second in the NCAA – with 12 kills, 45 assists and 13 digs. Luginbuhl had a 10-kill, 10-dig double-double.
