
Grant Lands on CFPA National Performer of the Year List

Senior running back is also on Walter Payton Award List
CHARLESTON, S.C. – National recognition continues to come in for Sacred Heart University running back Malik Grant. The senior was recently named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List.
One of the most prestigious awards at the FCS level, Grant is one of 38 players in the country on the list. During the summer, he was named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List, which is presented to the national offensive player of the year.
The Bronx, NY native is coming off an impressive junior campaign where was fourth in the FCS at 1,347 rushing yards – fourth on the SHU single-season list - and sixth with 112.2 yards per game. A Third-Team All-American in 2021, Grant crossed the goal line 11 times, which was tops in the NEC and 32nd nationally. He was also named Preseason All-American by Stats Perform, Hero Sports and The Bluebloods.
The Pioneers are on the road Saturday as they travel to Central Connecticut State for 6 p.m. tilt.
