Pioneers Compete at NYC Gotham Cup

SHU had several top-15 finishes

STATEN ISLAND, N,Y.—Jenna Engels had a third-place finish in the pole vault to highlight the Sacred Heart women's track and field team at the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday.

Engels, the top finisher for SHU, had a third-place finish in the pole vault at 3.51m. Sydney Abitanto was fifth in the event at 3.36m.

In the 60m, Maya Mocarski finished seventh overall at 8.00. Another seventh-place finisher for Sacred Heart was Megan Schneider in the 800, finishing at 2:30.98.

The Pioneers had a pair of eighth-place finishes as Sarah Lamoreaux was eighth in the high jump at 1.50m, and Morgan D'Auria was eighth in the triple jump at 10.72m.

Tara Brody finished 10th overall in the long jump with a leap of 10.07m.

Taylor Moore was 12th in the shot put at 10.52m, and Jessica Pigott was 12th in the 3000 with a time of 10:47.08.

In the mile, Kelly Parker was the top finisher for SHU, as she crossed the line at 5:23.78. Ava Srinivasan was the top Pioneer in the 400 as she finished in 1:01.90.

Alisha Stadnicki finished the 1000 with a time of 3:11.88, and Jada Alston finished the 200 in 26.42.

The Pioneers are back in action, next Saturday, January 28th, at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Women's Classic.
