Box Score WEST POINT, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team came up short in its spring opener at Army, 4-3, on Sunday.
 
The Pioneers were off to a strong start as they won doubles. Lefteri Apostolou and Alberto Mello picked up the first victory at number one, defeating Jake Haurte and Nathan Jose, 6-1. Charlie Levinson and Antoine Hernandez came out on top at number two, winning against Michael Zhang and Jack Hanna, 6-3.
 
The Black Knights responded with four singles wins to win the team match. Arya Alla and Hernandez were the two Pioneers to win their matches. At number five, Alla defeated Paul Roberts 6-4, 3-6 and 10-7 in the tiebreaker. Hernandez notched a win at number four against Michael Zhang in straight-sets 6-4, 7-5.
 
Up next, Sacred Heart hosts Hofstra for its first home match of the season at the Tennis Club of Trumbull on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
