Eighth-Ranked SHU Routs Elmira 37-9

ELMIRA, N.Y. — A fast start propelled the eighth-ranked Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team to victory on Sunday. The Pioneers went on the road to take down Elmira, 37-9.
The win improved the Pioneers 15-4 while the Eagles dropped to 8-7.
It only took 20 seconds for seventh-ranked Aaliyah Payne-Parris to pin Skylynn Tomlison at 101 pounds. Elmira had to forfeit three of the next four weight classes to stake the Pioneers to a 21-4 lead.
SHU put the team contest out of reach by winning four-straight matches, starting with Alexandra Fitzgerald bumping up to 136 pounds where she recorded a 12-2 tech fall. Madison Sandquist produced a 10-0 tech fall at 155 pounds and fifth-ranked Cara Broadus pinned Hazel Dahlquist in just 18 seconds at 170 pounds.
Sacred Heart is on the road February 5 for the Bearcat Open, hosted by third-ranked McKendree.
