Former SHU Star Working in the NHL
STAMFORD, Conn. - Maddie Bishop, the former Sacred Heart captain who went on to play pro hockey, has been named a junior amateur scout for the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals.
Bishop, whose day job is with Webster Bank as an analyst in the sponsor finance division, will scout in the Northeastern part of the U.S.
"I'm very excited to join the Washington Capitals," said the former CT Whale forward. "I was fortunate enough to play the game at the top levels of women's hockey. Now, I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work with a top organization in the NHL. I'm looking forward to being back at the rinks, although this time with a different perspective."
Bishop was a first-team All-NEWHA pick as a senior in 2019-20, finishing her collegiate career with 32 goals and 88 points in 126 contests.
The Wethersfield, Conn., native grew up with two older hockey playing brothers who inspired her in the sport.
"My brothers are a big reason why I played hockey, and I probably owe them some credit for my success. I always wanted to be like them growing up, and that quickly transitioned into my competitive nature. I wanted to do everything they did but better."
