NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University women's swimming & diving team competed at Iona on Saturday for a tri-meet against both Iona and Wagner. The Pioneers fell 123-114 to Iona and 134-103 to Wagner. Olivia McNicholas won the one-meter board scoring 237.90 and the three-meter board scoring 253.
 
The Pios took to the pool for the one and three meter boards, nine individual events, and a pair of relays.
 
First-year Sophia Velleco placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.91. Velleco also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle swimming a 5:18.22. 
 
First-year Maeve English finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle improving her time from last week by almost three seconds with a time of 10:57.64. English touched the wall right after Velleco in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:19.58.
 
Junior Melanie Sanchez delivered the fastest time for the Pioneers in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.48 to take second.
