Of Note:
Despite a three-and-out on its first drive, the Pioneers managed to get the ball back as Jon Moccia recovered the ball on the Stonehill 20-yard line following a muffed catch by Stonehill's Cameron Alves on the punt return. Shortly after, Sacred Heart capitalized offensively, scoring the game's first three points thanks to a 28-yard field goal from Sam Renzi.
The following drive saw Stonehill counter Renzi's field goal with a four-yard rushing touchdown from Jermaine Corbett, followed by an extra point attempt from Perry Shelbred, that put the hosts ahead by four, 7-3.
The Skyhawks' lead didn't last for long as the Pioneers put together a 69-yard drive, which resulted in the visitors regaining the lead, 10-7, with 1:34 left in the first quarter. On a first and goal, Cade Pribula put the ball in the hands of running back Malik Grant, who rushed up the middle for his second touchdown of the season, before Renzi capped the offensive drive with the made extra point attempt.
The second quarter opened with the Pioneers extending their lead to six, 13-7, following a 58-yard drive and a 24-yard field goal from Renzi. However, Stonehill closed the quarter by trimming the deficit to within three, 13-10, as Shelbred put the ball through the uprights for the 34-yard field goal.
The third quarter was a defensive showdown between the Pioneers and Skyhawks, but the visitors managed to put another three points on the scoreboard courtesy of Renzi's 41-yard field goal attempt.
Stonehill made things interesting as the Skyhawks evened the game at 16-16 after outscoring the Pioneers 6-0 in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.
A solid defensive effort by the Pioneers held the Skyhawks scoreless in the first overtime. At the same time, a missed field goal attempt from Renzi kept the game tied at 16-16, forcing another overtime battle at W.B. Mason Stadium.
Sacred Heart broke the tie in the second overtime following a 25-yard field goal from Renzi, but the Skyhawks' offense proved too much for the Pioneers as Corbett rushed up the middle for the game-winning touchdown.
