Madison Sanquist earned a second place finish in her 155 weight bracket
MARSHALL, Mo. – The Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team wrapped up the 2023 Missouri Valley Open on Saturday afternoon and had five individuals place within the top-10, including a second-place finish from Madison Sandquist in the 155-weight bracket.

Notables:
- Sandquist was the highest Pioneer to place in the two-day event and finished the tournament with an overall record of 4-1 after starting off with a first round bye.
- Madeline Hodges and Alexandra Fitzgerald were the next two Pioneers to place within the top-five as the duo recorded a fifth place in their designated weight bracket.
- After starting the tournament with a bye, Hodges won three straight matches in the 191-weight bracket before falling to in her final match by a 4-1 decision.
- Fitzgerald opened the tournament with a pair of fall wins, but her win streak in the 123-weight bracket came to an end by a 10-8 decision to Ella Jauregui.
- Love Daley and Temi Sanusi rounded out the top-10 placers for the Pioneers with two eighth place finishes in the 143 and 170 weight brackets, respectively.
- In the 143-weight bracket, Sanusi recorded an overall record of 2-1 behind a first and second round win. However, she was knocked off by Ella Schmitt by a tech fall, 11-0.
- Daley kicked off the tournament with a bye followed by a fall and tech fall wins but lost in the next round to Haley Ward due to tech fall, 10-0.
