Pryor Wins Second Straight NEC Player of the Week Honor

Pryor has won Player of the Week accolades four times in her career
SOMERSET, N.J. – Make it back-to-back Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week honors for Sacred Heart University women's basketball standout Ny'Ceara Pryor as she earned the league's highest weekly honor following her stellar performance at the 2023 Discover Puerto Rico Classic.
Pryor has been a staple of the NEC weekly awards in her short time in the conference. The Baltimore, Md., native is a four-time NEC Player of the Week and a 13-time NEC Rookie of the Week.
The Pioneers had a busy week on their hands at the Discover Puerto Rico Classic, playing three games in three days over Nov. 23-25. The team ended the challenging event with a 1-2 record, with a dominant win over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Thursday before suffering hard-fought losses to both VCU and UCF on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Pryor averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.7 steals over 30 minutes per game at the event, with her points, assists and steals leading the team.
She started the week with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 18 minutes during SHU's comfortable 73-42 victory over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. She followed that up with a season-best 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists against VCU. Pryor capped the Pios' excursion with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and a season-high five steals in a hard-fought contest against undefeated UCF.
The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 29, to play Fairfield at 7 p.m. at the Pitt Center. The game will be one of two for Sacred Heat that will be broadcast on SNY.
