Pioneers go heavy on defense.
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Building on a strong recruiting class signed during the December early period, the Sacred Heart University football team added 11 student-athletes on Wednesday. This brings the total number of signees to 26 for the fall of 2023.
"Our coaches did a great job of finding young men that are the right fit for our program, not just on the field, but everything that it means to be a SHU football player," head coach Mark Nofri said. "I really like the student-athletes that we have coming in for the fall. We have some needs to fill from graduation and these young men will be able to come in and compete for playing time."
As was the case in December, the majority of the signees (8) were on the defensive side of the ball. Five student-athletes are from Pennsylvania and four from New Jersey. For the first time since 2019 SHU has a player from Texas in cornerback Brian Hollins from Desoto.
