Pioneer Fencing Competes in NCAA Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Sacred Heart University fencing traveled to Harvard's campus Sunday as they competed in the NCAA Regionals.
The men's fencing squad saw quality competition, with Patrick Simpson tying 29th and Jeffrey Palma finishing 36th for men's epee out of 40 competitors. Men's foil had the least amount of competitors on the day at 35, as Jacob Bartel finished 21st and David Belluomo behind him tied at 22nd. Vijay Ganta finished 25th with Domenic Bartolo and Mateo Villarreal finishing 35th and 36th out of 40 competitors for men's saber.
Women's fencing had a solid outing on a day full of competition, with Nadia Gaberkorn finishing 18th and Grace Hand finishing tied for 39th among 53 competitors for women's epee. Jenna Jacinto finished 49th in the women's foil while Sophie Witek finished tied 22nd, Natalie Mataiev finished 28th and Valery Krylova finished tied 41st for women's saber.
The Pioneer fencing squads will next compete in the NCAA Championships starting March 23 and going through March 26.
