SHU Assistant in Female Coaches Development Program
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart Women's Ice Hockey Assistant Coach Francesca Giammona has been selected to the Female Coaches Development Program, which is part of the National Hockey League's Coaches Association.
Giammona just completed her second season with the Pioneers, helping the team transition from its old venue to the Martire Family Arena on campus in the middle of the 2022-23 campaign.
The NHLCA Female Coaches Development Program is an initiative that aims to help women in several areas including skills development, leadership strategies, communication tactics, networking, and career advancement opportunities.
The young Pios' assistant, now at the forefront of hockey venue technology with the new building, works with the SHU forwards and blueliners.
The NHL Coaches' Association is a professional organization that provides support and assistance to the head, associate, assistant, goalie and video coaches of the 32 teams in the National Hockey League. The association was founded in 2001 by legendary coach Scotty Bowman and a group of veteran colleagues including Roger Neilson, Larry Robinson, and Pat Quinn.
Recognized and supported by the NHL, the NHLCA and its members seek to develop future coaches, give back to the hockey community, and grow the game of hockey globally.
