NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's track and field team placed sixth at the conclusion of the two-day 2023 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Merrimack this weekend.
The Pioneers finished in a bunch of teams between 4-6th places. SHU tallied 90.5 points in sixth, needing just four points to climb to fourth and tie Stonehill (94.5).
SHU dominated the 3,000m steeplechase, tallying three finishers in the top nine.
Keegan Pepin led the group with a personal-record time of 11:40.31 to take third.
Kelly Parker also set a PR to claim fourth with a time of 11:56.84.
Grace Miller (12:33.92) rounded out the Pios' trio in the event in ninth.
Sacred Heart's
Maya Mocarski,
Leila Gary,
Megan Wassick, and
Jada Alston earned the Pioneers another podium by placing third in the 4x100m relay with a time of 48.31.
Kaylee Stenderowicz finished one spot shy of a podium spot in the triple jump, placing fourth with a mark of 11.79m.
Tara Brody finished two places shy of her teammate in sixth with a PR of 11.53m.
The Pioneers excelled in the javelin on Sunday, placing three in the top nine of the event.
Kaitlyn Luba paced the team in fourth with a throw of 38.32m.
Marisa Imme took seventh with a PR of 36.40m, while
Madeline Archangelo (33.30m) placed ninth.
Angela Kaiser continued her stellar weekend by placing fifth in the 5,000 meters on Sunday. The graduate student tallied a time of 18:36.85 to take fifth.
Following a solid day one,
Abbie Mokwuah concluded her impressive NEC Championship by placing seventh in the discus today. The graduate student recorded a throw of 34.97m to take seventh.
Ava Srinivasan set a new personal record in the 400m-hurdle finals to place eighth. The first year recorded a new PR time of 1:06.14.
Ava Coscia cleared 1.55m in the high jump to finish ninth in the event.
SHU put two competitors in the top 10 of the 1,500 meters.
Jessica Pigott took ninth with a time of 4:53.14, while
Alisha Stadnicki set a new PR and finished 10th.
The Pioneers are slated to next compete at the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, at the Solomon Outdoor Track in Dedham, Mass.
