FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team has released its 2023 schedule, and the Pioneers host six contests at Park Ave Field while adding two new opponents to their non-conference slate. 
 
"Our 2023 schedule features strong opposition and different challenges throughout the regular season," said head men's soccer coach Anthony Anzevui. "This ensures we are prepared for our NEC games, which are always a battle week in and week out. We were fortunate to have a great atmosphere at Park Ave Field last season and we look forward to the support again for the challenges ahead."
 
SHU kicks off the season with its first three contests on the road at Fordham (Aug. 24), Siena (Aug. 29) and Holy Cross (Sept. 1). The Pioneers face the Rams for the first time in program history. SHU meets Siena and Holy Cross in non-conference for the second-straight season.
 
The Pioneers earned a thrilling 2-0 win over the Crusaders in 2022. It was also the first win as head coach for Anzevui.
 
The Pioneers begin play at Park Ave Field with back-to-back home matches. SHU welcomes a new opponent in Rider on Sept. 5 before facing Columbia for the first time since 2017 on Sept. 9.
 
SHU hosts its first Northeast Conference opponent in Merrimack on Sept. 24. The Pioneers also travel to face defending league champion FDU on Oct. 8 and new conference foe Le Moyne on Nov. 2.
