LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team dropped its MAAC Quarterfinal match at Rider on Sunday afternoon, 1-0, in double overtime.

The Pioneers came off strong in the first half outshooting the Broncs 4-to-3 and 2-to-0 on goal. SHU controlled the ball well in the midfield and saw close opportunities from
David Garcia Gallego and
Alejo Woelper.
While scoreless, the first half was physical, with 16 fouls and four yellow cards.
The second half saw more equal play as each team saw multiple opportunities that fell short.
Neither team got a shot off in the first 10-minute overtime. The Broncs kicked off the second overtime by maintaining possession as they got two shots off, the second being the game-winning goal in the 101
st minute.
The Pioneers wrap up a record-breaking season, completing their first year in the MAAC with their best record since 2012.
