Pioneers Drop Non-Conference Contest to #23 Brown

Emma Kittredge tallied a season-high three goals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Graduate student Emma Kittredge scored a season-high three goals as the Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team fell on the road to nationally-ranked No. 23 Brown University by a final score of 15-6.

Along with Kittredge, Shae Insinga, Kelly Nolan, and Jamie Tanner recorded a goal for the Pioneers.

How it Happened:
Sacred Heart controlled the opening quarter, outscoring Brown by a 2-1 advantage. Kittredge netted the Pioneers' first goal of the game at the 11:20 mark, while Insinga put the visitors ahead by a pair, 2-0, with 7:13 on the clock. The Bears cut the deficit in half, 2-1, following an unassisted goal from Mia Mascone.
 
The Bears controlled the next 15 minutes of play as the hosts scored seven goals, including three from Greta Criqui, to take a commanding 8-3 lead heading into halftime. The Pioneers' lone goal of the second quarter was an unassisted tally from Kittredge with 17 seconds left in the stanza. 

Brown controlled the third quarter, scoring three goals on a pair of assists from Mascone to increase its lead to eight, 11-3. Lisa Martin was a vital component for the Pioneers' defensive unit as the keeper stopped seven of the 10 shots on goal in the third.

The final stanza saw SHU score three goals thanks to Nolan, Tanner, and Kittredge, but it wasn't enough as the hosts tacked on an additional four goals, securing the home victory against the Pioneers.
