The Pioneers had four wrestlers win their weight class brackets

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The top team in the Northeast Region all season, the Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team proved it one more time on Saturday afternoon at the 2024 NCWWC Regional Championship, hosted by Lock Haven University.

The Pioneers captured their second straight regional championship under head coach Paulina Biega and will send a program-best 13 wrestlers to the NCWWC Nationals. The national championship is set for March 8-9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sacred Heart secured first with a winning score of 203.0 points, which is a program-record for the red-and-white. Coming in second place was Lock Haven with 154 points, while East Stroudsburg rounded out the top three with 142 points.

All 13 wrestlers who advance to the NCWWC Nationals placed within the top-four of their weight class brackets.
The Pioneers had four wrestlers win their weight class bracket: Aaliyah Payne-Parris (101 pounds), Alexandra Fitzgerald (123 pounds), Madison Sandquist (155 pounds), and Love Daley (170 pounds).
Earning their spot with a second-place finish was Nohea Moniz (123 pounds), Temi Sanusi (143 pounds), Cara Broadus (170 pounds), and Madeline Hodges (191 pounds).
Securing a third-place finish for the Pioneers was Ahsia Torres (109 pounds), Bayley Trang (130 pounds), and Jacklyn Smith (191 pounds).
Getting the final spots with fourth-place finish was Samantha Yap (101 pounds) and Tati Walker (116 pounds).
Also, placing within the top eight of their weight class bracket was Aliza Leander (136 pounds) and Tayla Tildsley (155 pounds). Leander earned a fifth-place finsih, while Tildsley placed sixth.
