The Pioneers complete their spring season undefeated
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The No. 1-seeded Sacred Heart University men's soccer team faced second-seeded Post University in the Connecticut College Cup (CT Cup) final on Sunday, April 21, winning 2-1 with goals from David Garcia Gallego and Javier Lopez Cayuela. SHU remained perfect this spring season with a record of 5-0.
Six in-state teams competed in the third edition of Connecticut's College Cup – a spring competition among many of the state's collegiate programs.
SHU along with Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut, Southern Connecticut, University of New Haven, and Post form the league, adding a competitive value to college soccer's spring non-traditional season as well as drawing attention to the college programs in Connecticut.
The competition put all six programs into a single table. Each team plays four matches against other opponents in the league to decide the #1 and #2 seed for the championship game.
The Pioneers will return in the fall as a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) where they will face CT Cup competitor, Quinnipiac, again.
