
Archangelo Grabs Heptathlon Crown at New England's

Pios grab ninth place overall to conclude season
WORCESTER, Mass. — Madeline Archangelo's heptathlon victory put the bow on a successful outdoor season for the Sacred Heart University women's track and field team as it wrapped up competition at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers scored 33 total team points en route to a ninth-place team finish out of 36 scoring squads.
Archangelo polished off a successful senior campaign in the heptathlon after grabbing even wins in the shot put, 200m dash and the javelin throw. She also placed second in the 100m hurdles and the 800m run beore grabbing third in the long jump, accumulating 4788 points and earning the gold among her six finishing competitors.
Elsewhere in the field, junior Marisa Imme followed up her third place outing in javelin at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Championships with a seventh-place showing in the event to earn points for the Pios. Kaylee Stenderowicz grabbed a top-10 finish in the triple jump after securing seventh with a mark of 11.60m on her third jump. Lastly in the field, the Pios grabbed a crucial five points in the high jump as Lauryn Piccirelli and Magdalena Brogioli both cleared 1.64m to take sixth and seventh, respectively.
The Red & White had success on the track as both the 4x800m and 4x400m relays placed inside the top-10 and in scoring position. The Pios grabbed eighth place in the 4x800m with the group of Angela Kaiser, Carissa Weber, Emily Raymond and Elizabeth Apostolico finishing in 9:35.21. In the 4x400m, the quartet of Diamani Canuto, Olivia Suter, Nicole Parise and Madison Breckner took seventh with a time of 4:03.69 to earn two points for SHU.
The Pios would earn points from individuals the rest of the way as Suter claimed a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.39. Her eighth-place prelims time of 1:04.87 set a new personal-best for her in the event. Brogioli also earned advancement in the finals of the 100m hurdles, moving from seventh to sixth in the finals with a time of 14.25 seconds. Kaiser claimed SHU's last top-10 finish on the track with a fifth place showing in the 5000m run, finishing in 17:26.08 to grab four points for the Pios as they wrapped up competition.
