FAIRFIELD, Conn.— After back-to-back road games, the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team returns home to the William H. Pitt Center on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 2:00 pm to take on Saint Peter's in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action.

OPENING TIP
- Sacred Heart and Saint Peter's meet for the second time in series history and the first time since 2017. The Peacocks defeated SHU, 70-61, in a neutral site game at Mohegan Sun on Nov. 18, 2017.
- Both teams are coming off Thursday night losses; SHU fell to Siena, 93-75, and Saint Peter's lost to Marist, 56-51.
- In the Pios loss to Siena, Tanner Thomas scored a career-high 30 points, the first time a Pioneer dropped 30 since his brother, Tyler Thomas had a 30-piece against URI on Dec. 7, 2021. Bryce Johnson (13) also scored in double figures.

- This year is Sacred Heart's first season as a full-time member of the MAAC.
- The Pioneers have 10 new players on the team.

- Taner Thomas scored a career-high 30 points, as he and Bryce Johnson scored in double figures for the Pios.
- Thomas shot 66% (14-21) from the field, and his 14 made field goals are a career-high.
- Siena used a strong surge to come from behind and take the home victory over the Pioneers.
- Sacred Heart led by as many as eight in the second half, but Siena took control and started to put the game away after a 65-65 tie at 9:26.
- Thomas cut the Pios deficit to single digits with 4:22 remaining but the Saints could not be stopped and finished with the 93-75 final.
ABOUT SAINT PETER'S
- St. Peter's is 6-8 overall and 1-5 in the MAAC this season. They are coming off a 56-51 home loss to Marist on Thursday.
- The Peacocks have two double-figure players: Marcus Randolph (14.4) and Armoni Zeigler (11.4).
- The defending MAAC Champions were selected fifth in the MAAC preseason coaches poll. Randolph and Mouhamed Sow were named to the preseason third team.
