Alvim posts strong results for Pioneers
PHILADELPHIA – The Sacred Heart women's fencing team battled a very strong field at the Philadelphia Invitational on Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania. The foes included second-ranked Notre Dame and the No. 7 host school.
It was a strong day for Maria Alvim. In epee, she posted a 2-1 record against the second-ranked Fighting Irish. She also was 2-1 against the seventh-ranked Quakers and against North Carolina.
Against NJIT, Nadia Gaberkorn and Valery Krylova were each 3-0 in epee.
