
Four Pioneers Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Hart, Mongelli earned second All-District accolade
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In recognition of their unwavering dedication to both their academic and athletic pursuits, Sacred Heart University football standouts Quinn Hart, Maximus Mongelli, Ryan Palmieri, and Payton Rhoades have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades, a testament to their exceptional performance both on and off the field.
Hart and Mongelli have earned All-District honors for the second time in their careers, while Palmieri and Rhoades received their first recognition from CSC.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the gridiron and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Hart, a graduate student majoring in Industrial Organizational Psychology with a 4.0 GPA, appeared in all 11 games for the Pioneers this fall. He finished the campaign leading the team, along with teammate Ryan Moore, in interceptions with two, with one resulting in a 52-yard touchdown return to help propel the Pioneers to victory against Merrimack. Hart also recorded 21 tackles on the season behind 12 solo and nine assisted stops while tallying three pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
Mongelli, a senior majoring in Finance with a 3.71 GPA, saw action in 10 games for SHU as a defensive back. The Roslyn, New York native finished third on the team with 50 total tackles following 31 solo and 19 assisted stops. Mongelli broke up a pair of passes against Mercyhurst and LIU and forced a fumble against the Sharks.
Palmieri, a sophomore majoring in Finance, played in all 11 games as both a defensive back and kick returner for the Pioneers. On the defensive side of the ball, he ranked second on the team with three pass breakups, along with 39 tackles, 1.0 tackle-for-loss, and an interception. For special teams, Palmieri returned the ball for 190 yards behind nine attempts, with his longest return coming against Georgetown for 32 yards.
Rhoades, a graduate student majoring in Sports Communication and Media with a 4.0, participated in 11 games this fall as a wide receiver. He tallied a career-high 218 yards behind 22 catches for an average of 19.8 yards per game.
