PROVIDENCE, R.I. – They were skating on the road against a strong ECAC Hockey team that had returned early from the holiday break to compete in a tournament at Minneapolis last weekend. The Sacred Heart Women's Hockey Team, which had not played since Dec. 7, began the 2025 portion of the season with a 3-0 loss to Brown tonight at Meehan Auditorium.
The Bears, who had a 32-20 advantage in shots, scored twice early in the contest on shots that found holes in the upper corner of the net and then added another pretty tally in the second to cover the scoring. Monique Lyons had two goals and three points to lead the way.
Sophomore Lauren Larson stopped 29 shots for the Pioneers, who had just one power play chance and fell to 11-8 overall. SHU is back in action in NEWHA play this weekend with a pair of games at St. Anselm.
