Fairfield, Conn – The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team fell to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 4-0 in the home opener on Saturday, October 4^th.

How it Happened:

The first period was a steady back-and-forth battle, where each team created opportunities, but neither was able to find the back of the net. Mia Wendell's great goaltending in the opening frame held the game scoreless.
In the second period, the momentum shifted as RPI struck three times to take control of the game. Despite several quality chances, the Pioneers couldn't find the back of the net.
Trailing by three heading into the third period, Sacred Heart pushed to mount a comeback but couldn't break through the Engineers' defense. An additional RPI goal sealed the result, as the Pioneers fell 4–0.
