NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule on Sunday, competing at the North Central College Invitational. The Pioneers were led by strong performances from
Bella Sowards and
Josephine Larson, who each earned podium finishes in their respective brackets.
Of Note:
- Sowards went 4-1 on the day to secure a third-place finish in bracket B at 131 pounds, while Larson also posted a 4-1 record, finishing second at 180 pounds in bracket B.
- Sacred Heart saw multiple wrestlers gain valuable mat time throughout the tournament. At 145 pounds and bracket A, Selena Sifuentes Shaffer recorded a 2-2 performance, while Love Daley matched that mark at 160 pounds.
- Veronica Whitacre (138 lbs, Bracket A) and Samantha Yap (117 lbs, Bracket A) each picked up wins in their brackets, finishing 1-2 overall.
- Madeline Hodges also earned a victory in bracket A 180 pounds.
