Tanner Thomas and
Mekhi Conner bring in more postseason awards as the Met Basketball Writers Association has announced the All-Met Division I teams. Thomas was named to the third team, and Conner was selected as an honorable mention.
Thomas, an all-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference send team selection, earns the first All-Mett postseason award of his career. He was the team leader and was seventh in the conference in points per game, 14.5. The redshirt junior also led the team in rebounds per game with 6.1. Thomas had three double-doubles this season and scored in double figures in 20 games. He scored a career-high 30 points against Siena on January 16.
Conner, an all-MAAC rookie team selection, takes home his first All-Mett postseason honor after an outstanding rookie season. The first-year point guard started in all but one game this season. He has been in the national rankings in assists and assists per game since early December. The New Haven, Conn. native was the league leader and 12th in the country in assists with 217 and ninth in assists per game at 6.6. He also averaged 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Conner had four games with 11 or more assists, including a career-high 16 against Canisius on January 23. He was named the Met Basketball Writers Association DI Player of the Week on January 28.
Sacred Heart made its first appearance in the MAAC Championships, defeating Fairfield in the opening round before falling to Merrimack in the quarterfinal.
