Trudeau will conclude the year with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds before joining the Blues
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After the conclusion of his senior campaign, Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey standout Felix Trudeau signed a two-year contract with the St. Louis Blues on Monday morning. Trudeau will report to the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL for the remainder of the season before beginning a two-year entry-level deal with the Blues in 2026-27.
"We are incredibly proud to see Felix take the next step and sign an NHL contract with the St Louis Blues," said head coach C.J. Marottolo. "It is so well deserved and just the beginning of an exciting journey."
Trudeau marks the second Pioneer to ink an NHL contract right after graduating, joining fellow SHU great Jason Cotton, who signed with the Carolina Hurricanes after the 2019-20 season. The Pioneers have had two alumni who have skated in the NHL. Justin Danforth has appeared in 187 career games across five seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres. Marc Johnstone skated in one game with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2023-24.
Trudeau concluded his historic senior season this past Saturday in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Championship Game. The Terrebonne, Quebec, native ends the year tied for fifth in the country in points with 48, while scoring the second-most goals with 25. He also leads the country in power play goals (12), is second in hat tricks (2), and has the third most game-winning goals (5).
After leading the Pioneers to a program-record 23 wins, Trudeau was named AHA Player and Forward of the Year and was crowned the league's scoring champion. Last week he was named a top ten finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
