How It Happened:
Sacred Heart showed resilience early, overcoming a tight opening set. After holding a narrow edge midway through, the Pioneers surged behind the serving run of Jaron Popp, who delivered multiple aces to fuel a decisive push. Kills from Zach Flynn and Popp helped Sacred Heart close the set on a strong run to take a 25-18 victory and an early 1-0 match lead.
Harvard responded in the second set, using a mid-set run to shift momentum. After Sacred Heart kept things tight early, the Crimson capitalized on attack errors and strong play at the net to build separation. The Pioneers battled back to tie things late at 21-21, but Harvard finished the set on a 4-2 run to even the match with a 25-23 win.
The third set saw Harvard take control early, jumping out to a multi-point lead and maintaining it for much of the frame. Sacred Heart attempted a late rally, cutting the deficit to 23-22 after a strong stretch at the net, but the Crimson held firm to secure a 25-23 set victory and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
In the fourth, Harvard seized momentum from the start, opening on a 3-0 run and never relinquishing control. Sacred Heart struggled to find offensive rhythm as the Crimson continued to apply pressure with consistent attacking and key blocks. Despite efforts from Flynn, Aaron Johnson, and Petr Beranek, Harvard closed out the set 25-15 to clinch the match.
