McLaughlin tallied SHU's goal against the Bison
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bridget McLaughlin netted the lone goal for the Sacred Heart University field hockey team as the Pioneers suffered a 2-1 road loss to Bucknell on Sunday morning in Lewisburg, Pa.

Bucknell got off to a strong start this morning, scoring twice in the opening 4:21 of the game.
SHU answered at the 7:45 mark, as McLaughlin cut the deficit to 2-1. The Pios scored on the transition, as Emma-Rose Phillips found a streaking McLaughlin who ran into the arc and fired a strike to the bottom left corner of the cage.
Following a thrilling first quarter, the defenses settled in and the game transitioned into halftime with the Bison leading 2-1.
The increased defensive effort continued into the second half, as the final 30 minutes went scoreless. SHU put two shots on goal in the half, but Bucknell's keeper, Sarah Althouse, made a pair of strong saves to preserve a 2-1 win for the Bison.
In SHU's cage, sophomore Ruby Butler settled in after the hectic opening minutes and finished with a pair of saves.
