Ellis Signs Deal with Kalamazoo Wings

The standout defenseman heads to the Vancouver Canucks’ ECHL affiliate
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Following a successful senior season with the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team, defenseman Noah Ellis signed a signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) with the Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks, as announced on Thursday morning.
Ellis played a career-best 40 games for the Pioneers last season, tallying nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points, all of which were career highs. The 2020 NHL Draft pick of the Vegas Golden Knights led SHU blueliners in points and finished fourth overall on the team. Before Sacred Heart, Ellis made collegiate stops at UMass (2022-23) and Nebraska-Omaha (2023-25).
Ellis joins the list of Pioneers that have signed professional contracts following the 2025-26 campaign. Felix Trudeau penned the first deal, signing with the St. Louis Blues before playing out the rest of the season with their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. Mikey Adamson, Marcus Joughin and Reid Pabich all turned pro next, signing ECHL contracts with the South Carolina Stingrays (Washington Capitals), Indy Fuel (Chicago Blackhawks) and Fort Wayne Komets (Edmonton Oilers), respectively.
All four Pioneers played a critical part in the winningest stretch of Sacred Heart men's ice hockey history. SHU is coming off one of its best seasons ever, as the team won a program-record 23 games and made its third appearance in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Championship game.
