Riehl scores her first two career goals

BUFFAFLO, N.Y – The Sacred Heart University women's soccer team cruised past Canisius in a rematch of the 2025 conference championship game. With the victory, the Pioneers remain perfect on the season while continuing to make program history.

How it Happened:
Canisius generated the first opportunity of the afternoon in the fourth minute, but Thievon made the save. Sacred Heart responded with its first chance in the 15th minute when Riley Pettigrew put a shot on net.

The Pioneers broke through in the 24th minute. Kelleher connected with Riehl, who finished the chance to give SHU a 1-0 lead. The goal sent Sacred Heart into halftime with the lead despite Canisius applying pressure throughout the opening 45 minutes.

Sacred Heart came out firing after the break. The Pioneers produced a flurry of chances early in the second half, with Rylee McGee, Riehl and Quinn Pollack all forcing saves from the Canisius goalkeeper.

Then, in the 59th minute, the Pios broke through once again. Riehl found the back of the net for the second time, this time off a corner kick from McShea. The first-year Pioneer entered the contest without a collegiate goal and left Buffalo with the first two of her career.

From there, Thievon and the SHU defense made sure the lead held. Canisius continued to create opportunities, but Thievon turned away everything sent her way, including three saves in each half. She finished the afternoon with six saves and a clean sheet, helping the Pioneers preserve their perfect record.

The win marked a historic milestone for the program. Not only did it secure the longest winning streak in Sacred Heart women's soccer history, but the Pioneers' 6-0-0 record also marks the best start to a women's soccer season in the history of the conference.

Riehl's two goals were her first collegiate goals
McShea, with her assist, ties the all-time program assist record
Kelleher tallied her 11^th point of the season
Sacred Heart has outscored their opponents 13-2

The Pioneers will return to action one week from today when they host Marist for their first home conference match of the season. Kickoff is set for noon, and the match will also serve as Sacred Heart's Pediatric Cancer Awareness Match.
