Men’s Golf Tied for Second at Season Opening Red Bandanna Invite

Mooney and DiBeneditto lead SHU in the top 10
VERONA, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University men's golf team opened the 2026-27 season in a tie for 2nd place after two rounds at the Red Bandanna Invitational, hosted by Boston College at the Turning Stone Resort Kaluhyat Course in Verona, N.Y.
The Pios are tied with Palm Beach State for second with a team score of 592 (+16), opening the day with a 289 before carding a 303 in round two. Harvard holds the lead after day one with a score of 583 (+7).
Leading the way for the Pioneers is Ronan Mooney in T4th. The sophomore sits with a score of 145 (+1) after a one-under 71 in the first round and a two-over 74 in round two. Mooney also led the Pioneers at this event last season, sitting in T4th after 54 holes last year.
Brody DiBeneditto had a strong start to his rookie campaign, sitting in T6th after opening day. The Watertown, Conn., native sits one stroke behind Mooney with a 146 (+2) following rounds of 71 and 75.
James Bradley also had a strong SHU debut today, as the Coker transfer is in 12th place on the leaderboard. The junior put together rounds of 73 and 75 for a combined score of 148 (+4).
Andrew Hahn, Robby Zyskowski III and Sho Suzuki rounded out SHU's competitors. Hahn and Zyskowski sit one stroke apart at +8 and +9 in T17th and T19th, respectively. Suzuki is tied for 34th at +13.
The third and final round of the Red Bandanna Invitational will take place tomorrow morning.
