High School: Whalen earned varsity letters in football, lacrosse, and track & field while at Hamden Hall High School in Hamden, Conn. A three-time First-Team All-League honoree, he led the squad to a 2013 Fairchester League Championship. Whalen exceelled in the classroom as well, earning Honor Roll accolades.

Personal: Michael Whalen is the son of Heather and Michael Whalen and has six siblings - three older, Katie, Tom and Dan, and three younger, Mac, Susie and Maurice. His father played football at Lehigh University.
