Centeno joined the Pioneer coaching staff in 2019 as the Volunteer Asssitant Coach for men and women's fencing. Centeno was a student-athlete at Sacred Heart in the fencing program from 2015-19, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Psychology. He currently is a graduate student at SHU pursuing a master's degree in speech-language pathology.

At SHU, Centeno was captain of the men's fencing team for 2018-2019 season, where he was named Second Team in the Northeast Conference in 2018 and First Team in 2017. He garnered the Pioneer Athlete Award in 2019, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship participant award in 2018, the October Men’s Athlete of the Month recipient in 2018.
