Fairfield, CT - Freshman Women's Ice Hockey forward Gina Arnone (Bridgewater, NJ) has been named the Sacred Heart University/Enterprise Rent-A-Car Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of January 9th-15th.
Arnone led the Sacred Heart offensive attack in a scoring outburst that resulted in three Pioneer wins last week. In Tuesday's first win over St. Michael's, Arnone scored two goals and added two assists. Wednesday she had a goal and an assist as the Pioneers completed the sweep of the Purple Knights. Friday night, Arnone once again had a four point night, scoring two goals and assisting on two others, as the Pioneers topped Holy Cross. Overall, she totaled 10 points, five goals and give assists, in the three games.
On the season, Arnone is second on the Pioneers in total scoring, having tallied 27 points. She has scored a team high 15 goals and added 12 assists, second most on the squad.
Arnone and the Pioneers return to the ice Friday night when they host Southern Maine. Face-off at the Milford Ice Pavilion is set for 7:00 pm.
