FAIRFAX, VA - Andrew Silber and Payam Zarrinpour continued their strongs seasons, but an undermanned Pioneer wrestling team fell to George Mason University 23-22 on Friday night in the second round of the CAA Duals. The Pioneers are wrestling without senior Sherwood Fendryk, who is out with an injury and will likely be out at least another week.
Zarrinpour recorded a pin at heavyweight in 1:20 over Ryan Kittrick, while Silber earned a 4-2 decision. Cory Dunn picked up his second win of the Duals with an 11-6 decision.
Chris Davis won a major decision at 149 and Patrick Nappi had a 5-2 win at 165.
"The score was disappointing but considering we are here without Sherwood and we have no one healthy at 125 pounds, I think we did very well," said head coach Andy Seras. "We're not quite there yet, but we've been pointing toward the CAA Tournament all year and hopefully we'll be ready when that time comes."
