The SHU women's soccer team played its second straight double overtime game and earned a 2-2 draw against Stony Brook Friday night at Campus Field.  Amanda Stiles (Miller Place, NY) and Lucy Gildein (Topsfield, MA) each found the back of the net early in the second half to give the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage.  The Seawolves capitalized on a penalty kick and Dominque Adamo scored the equalizer two minutes later to finish the night's scoring and force the 2-2 draw.

Sacred Heart (3-2-1) had the first quality scoring chance of the game 15 minutes into the first half.  Samantha Kee (Haskell, NJ) put a header on goal that Seawolves netminder Chelsea Morales was able to get a hand hand to keep the game scoreless.  Morales finished the night with eight saves, making three in overtime.  SBU immediately countered the Pioneer chance as Larissa Nysch found herself one-on-one with SHU goaltender Meghan Reichelt (Selden, NY).  Reichelt made the stop at point blank range, one of her four saves of the night.

The Pioneers exploded for two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take a 2-0 lead.  Stiles scored her second goal of the season at the 38:37 mark with an assist from freshman Alyssa Brandofino (East Northport, NY) to make it a 1-0 affair.  It was only 1:36 later before SHU extended its lead as Gildein powered in her third goal of 2010.  Kee provided the assist on the play with a great headed pass across the box.

Stony Brook (0-5-1) took all of the momentum ten minutes later after being awarded a penalty kick.  Sa'sha Kershaw, the Seawolves' leading scorer, slotted home the free opportunity to cut the Pioneer advantage to 2-1.  Holly Razzaghi had a chance to tie the game immediately after the first tally on a long shot but her shot rang off the elbow of the goal frame.   SBU would tie the game on the next attack as Razzaghi earned an assist on Adamo's equalizer, which found the side netting on a shot from a sharp angle.

Sacred Heart had the majority of the opportunites down the stretch but could find a game winner.  Stiles and Alex Mack (Freeport, ME) each had shots on goal at the end of regulation but Morales was able to smother both to send the game to overtime.  Mack had the Pioneers best chance of the extra session with seven minutes to play in double overtime.  The senior ripped a hard shot that looked to be headed for the back of the net but Morales made a diving save to her right to rob Sacred Heart of a win.  The Seawolves nearly stole the game in the final seconds but Adamo's long range shot bounced off the crossbar to ensure the game would end in a 2-2 draw.

The Pioneers return home on Sunday at 3:00 pm as they take on Rider in the final home game before conference play begins.
