The Sacred Heart men's tennis team lost a pair of matches over the weekend, falling at Boston College and Boston University. SHU fell 6-1 to the Eagles and 4-3 at BU to move to 0-3 to start the spring season.
In the BC loss, junior Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) picked up the Pioneers lone point with a win at #5 singles. Sullo defeated Klaus Puestow 6-1, 6-2. In doubles play, seniors Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) and Nick Mazzarese (Stonington, CT) lost a hard fought 8-6 battle at #3 to Erik Kreutzer and Adam Davison.
The Terriers swept all three doubles matches, winning 8-4 in each, to take the point in Sunday's match. SHU got singles victories at #1, #2 and #5 slots. Kasyanov won a three-set match with Josh Friedman in the top-spot, winning 7-6, 2-6 and 7-6.
Chris Ujkic (Mattituck, NY) won his match at #2 with Jarred Pendleton, 6-1, 7-6 while Sullo earned the Pioneer's other point and his second win of the weekend beating Alex Hallenbeck, 7-6, 6-2.
The Pioneers will host Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm at Yale University.
