WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team won the doubles point but could not hold on as the Pioneer fell to Pratt, 4-1, at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center at West Point Friday.
SHu got off to a great start, winning at first and second doubles to secure the point. Freshman Tomasz Garbacz and senior Frederick McRae clinched the point with a 7-6 victory at first doubles after the second doubles team of senior captain Paul Goncalved and sophomore Connor Liona won 6-3.
In singles, Pratt got off to a good start and secured the victory with wins at 2,3,4 and 6 singles. Freshmen Martin Macias went three sets at third singles before falling to Kenta Kawad in three sets. Garbacz and Goncalves matches were in the third set but were halted when the match was clinched.
SHU returns to West Point to face Army on Saturday at 6:00.
