Men's Tennis Delivers Impressive Win at Niagara

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — The Sacred Heart men's tennis team earned a strong 6-1 victory over Niagara University on Saturday night at the Village Glen Tennis Club in Williamsville, NY.
Niagara started off well in doubles play, capturing the opening point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Vayo Rodriguez & Brennan Hart-Nova won 6-3 at #3 Doubles to give the Pios a 1-0 lead in the doubles. However, the Eagles fought back to win at the other two positions to earn the doubles point.
Sacred Heart was dominant in singles competition, winning all six matches to seal the team victory. First-Year Tomasz Garbacz picked up an impressive straight-set 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, while Liona added another point for the Pioneers with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 result at No. 6.
Additional victories came from Darren Huang, Martin Macias, Paul Goncalves and Frederick McRae as Sacred Heart controlled the singles lineup to pull away from Niagara and secure the 6-1 final.
The win is their third of conference play as they try to carry the momentum when they next face Holy Cross on April 14th at 3:00 PM in Worcester, MA.
