Women's Hockey Beats Neumann 6-2

(Aston, PA) – The Sacred Heart Women's Hockey team beat the Neumann Knights 6-2 Saturday night in the first game of a two-game weekend series.
SHU took a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes with two power play goals. Melissa Robbins opened the scoring for at 5:26 of the first period, set up by Sara Hanna and Casey Stathopoulos. At 16:57, Stathopoulos scored on the mad advantage with an assist from Sara Hanna.
Stathopoulos scored another special teams goal, scoring her second of the night shorthanded a 16:44 with the helper going to Catherine Chittick. Ashley Langdon, however, answered 47 seconds later off a pass from Jessica Langdon to get Neumann on the board.
Casey Kilduff cut the deficit to one for Neumann with a power play goal at 8:26 of the third, with Lynsey Nakamura picking up the assist. However, the Pioneers reeled off three goals to finish the game. Cara Curran scored unassisted at 12:51 to reestablish a two-goal lead for SHU. With Neumann on the power play to close the game, Sarah Delaney and Robbins both scored shorthanded goals. Delaney's goal was scored at 18:28, assisted by Hanna, and Robbins scored unassisted at 19:17.
Sacred Heart looks for the sweep Sunday, November 11 at 3:00 pm.
