Pioneers Advance to NEC Semi-Finals with Win Over Bryant

West Windsor, NJ – The Sacred Heart women's team came back after dropping the doubles point to defeat the Bryant Bulldogs, 4-2, Friday afternoon to advance to the NEC tournament semi-finals. The Pioneers will face the top seeded Fairleigh Dickinson Knights in the semi-finals.
Despite dropping the doubles point to the Bulldogs, the Pioneer fought back and found four wins in singles. Katie DeRienzo (Douglaston, NY) at #2 singles defeated Marcela Brandao, 6-0, 6-4. At # 3 singles Nicole Rydzewski (Maspeth, NY) took down Stephanie Smyers, 6-3, 7-5. At #4 singles, Lindsey Post (Danbury, CT) defeated Devlin-Ann Ammendola, 6-3, 7-5. At #5 singles Paige Olson (Sykesville, MD) distinguished Jovana Hadzi Tanovic, 6-3, 6-2. The Bulldogs earned their second point at number one singles.
Sacred Heart and FDU face off tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. SHU lost 7-0 to Knights earlier this season.
