- This is the 31st meeting between the Pioneers and the Blackbirds dating back to the 1997-98 season

- Led by Sophie Bhasin's 15.6 points per game, the Blackbirds come into Monday's matchup 4-10 this season and 1-2 in NEC play
- LIU's only conference win has come against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights at home, 81-71
- Gail Striegler enters her seventh season at the helm of the LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team. Striegler's unit in 2011-12 won 21 games, and over the three seasons, won 62 games, the most over a three-year span in program history.
Last Time They Met...
The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team earned a thrilling victory over visting Northeast Conference foe LIU Brooklyn, 46-44, in the William H. Pitt Center.
Gabrielle Washington scored 20 of her 26 points in the first-half, helping to rally Sacred Heart from an 18-14 deficit with 7:55 to play before intermission. Hanna Kimmel began a 16-5 half-ending run with a three pointer with 7:13 to play. A Washington three with 5:26 before the break put SHU in front and the Pioneers led 30-23 at halftime.
The Blackbirds rallied in the second-half, taking a 39-37 lead with 8:56 to play in regulation when Fanny Cavallo put in a layup. Katie Shepard answered two Pioneers possessions later, to tie the game, 39-39. The teams traded baskets and were tied 41-41, as Sacred Heart scored six straight points to take the lead for the final time.
Three of the Last Four...
Red shirt-junior Hannah Kimmel has now recorded three double-doubles in the Pioneers' last four games after posting her fourth of the season Saturday against Saint Francis U with 17 points and a career-best 14 rebounds. In the Pioneers' take down of Big East member Villanova, the guard/forward tallied a career-best 33 points against the Wildcats while grabbing 10 rebounds. In the NEC-opener, Kimmel paced Sacred Heart with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Ettienne a Major Game Changer...
Lerae Ettienne came into Saturday's battle off teh bench for 25 minutes providing a spark for the Pioneers on both offense and defense. The junior forward recorded her first career double-double pulling down a personal best 14 rebounds while putting 11 points on the board.
