DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Sacred Heart wrestling team won its first dual meet of the season Sunday afternoon, earning a 32-10 victory at Davidson.

The Pioneers got off to a 6-0 start by winning at 125 by forfeit. After Davidson won at 133 by major decision to make the score 6-4, Sacred Heart won the next two matches by pin. Kyle Brady needed just 0:58 to defeat Dustin Runzo by fall in the 141-pound bout. At 149, Brendan Goldup pinned James McCord in 1:08. Leading 18-4, Sacred Heart won at 157 pounds with Casey Mitchell beating Alex Palinsky 7-3. Johnny Vrasidas followed at 165 with a convincing 6-1 win over Patric Devlin, giving the Pioneers a 24-4 lead.

Conan Schuster tacked five more points on the scoreboard with a 17-2 technical fall victory in the 174-pound bout. Schuster also won by technical fall last night at Duke. Davidson's Scott Patrick helped the Wildcats get back on the scoreboard with a 7-4 win at 184 over Elliott Antler. At 197 pounds, Davidson's Ian Solcz narrowly defeated Sacred Heart's Sasha Oliinyk 8-7. Dan Hayden capped Sacred Heart's win with a 5-3 overtime victory in the heavyweight bout.

Sacred Heart is back on the mats on Saturday, Feb. 21 at AIC at 12 p.m.
