Women's Golf Concludes Fall Slate with First Place Finish in SHU Fall Classic

MILFORD, Conn.—The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished their fall schedule with a first place finish at the SHU Fall Classic at Great River Golf Club on Monday afternoon. The Pioneers were led by senior Ellen Nighbor and sophomore Chelsea Sedlar who finished first and second respectively at the two-round tournament.
The Pioneers finished with a team score of 623 on their home course. Coach Matt McGreevy was happy with his team's showing in their fall finale, "I'm so proud of this team for coming together as a team and focusing on a singular goal throughout the fall. I could not be happier the way we finished. A team win, an individual win and a runner up." Navy finished at 73-over par to take the second place spot.
Nighbor's fall season came full circle on Monday as she started the year off with a win at the Navy Fall Invitational and ended it with another individual win. She finished with a two-day score of just two-over par,and shot an impressive six birdies over the two rounds. Sedlar would finish in second with a score of 9-over par. Junior Abigail Hood finished in fifth with a score of 18-over par after shooting a 78 in the final round. Junior Alejandra Perez tied for 12th at 23-over par. Senior Stephanie Lowe would finish one stroke behind her at 24-over par to tie for 14th.
McGreevy is excited as his team will now prep for the spring season, "very excited about the spring and looking forward to finishing off our goal we set as a team back in August."
