Box Score BOSTON, Mass.—The Sacred Heart men's ice hockey team fell to eighth ranked Boston University, 7-0 at Agganis Arena on Friday night.
The Terriers (2-2) answered early in the first period on a power play goal by Jordan Greenway with 12:12 remaining in the period. They would get their second tally just twenty seconds later as Greenway assisted Clayton Keller's goal to give Boston University the 2-0 lead. After being held to four shots in the first period, Sacred Heart (1-3-1) would get back to their aggressive attack with twelve shots on goal but were denied by Terriers goaltender Jake Oettinger. Senior Justin Danforth had four of his team high seven shots in the period. Boston University pulled away in the final period. Kieffer Bellows added another power play goal with 14:09 remaining in the third to make it 3-0. The Terriers added four more goals in the third period for the 7-0 win
The Pioneers were outshot 40-24 Friday night. Boston University went 3-9 on the power play, while Sacred Heart was 0-9 on their power play opportunities. Brett Magnus made 33 saves, while Oettinger made 24.
Sacred Heart heads to Springfield, Mass. on Sunday October 23 to take on Atlantic hockey opponent American International at 3:05pm.
First Period
- Magnus picked up two quick saves early in the first
- Greenway got BU on the board with his power play goal, J Forsmacka Karlsson and Clayton Keller on the assist
- Keller answered twenty seconds later with the Terriers second goal of the period off the assist by Greenway
- Oettinger made the stop on a penalty shot by Evan Jasper in the 12th minute.
Second Period
- Danforth had four shots during the Pioneers first two power plays in the period but were denied by Oettinger.
- Magnus made six big saves in three minutes for Sacred Heart.
- Zach Tsekos had two opportunities denied by the BU defense in the 12th minute.
- Liam Clare blocked two Terrier shots in the 15th minute.
Third Period
- Bellows tacked on the third goal for BU
- Ruslan Rakhmatov's shot gets saved by Oettinger
- Bavaro had three shots in the power play opportunity for Sacred Heart in the 11th minute
- BU would tack on four more goals to bring final to 7-0
